iTunes: Accidentally Sharing Voicemail Messages

Your iTunes library may contain voicemail messages from your work phone. Here's how you can make sure you are not accidentally sharing them.


Depending on your settings, your iTunes library may contain messages from your phone's voicemail. If your iTunes library is shared, this means that those messages could show up for other iTunes users in your building. This article will show you how to avoid this issue by adjusting your sharing settings or turning sharing off altogether.  This article will show you how to prevent future voicemails messages from going into iTunes.


The Solution

1. Open iTunes preferences.

2. In the preferences screen, select "Sharing." Adjust your settings using one of the options below.

  • To turn off sharing altogether, uncheck the "Share my library on my local network" checkbox.
  • To share select playlists, leave the "Share my library...." checkbox checked and click the "Share selected playlists" radio button. This will let you select individual playlists to share. Double check those playlists to make sure they don't contain any voicemail messages.

3. Click the blue "OK" button.

4. Follow the instructions in this article so future voicemails do not end up in your iTunes library.
