TeacherVUE: Communicating with Students and Parents

Describes how to communicate with students and their parents on an individual, class wide, or group basis.

1. Once you have signed in to TeacherVUE and your class, click on the picture of the student you want to communicate with. Select the “Communication” option in the pull-down menu that appears.

2. The "Message Details" are on the left side of your screen will jump you to the different areas of the message screen. The "Message History" button will take you to a list of your past communications.

3. In the "From" area, you can opt to send a blind copy of the message to your TTSD email account. 

4. Select recipients (student, father, mother) by checking the appropriate boxes. The message will automatically go to the matching StudentVUE and/or ParentVUE accounts as well as their email addresses if available. You can opt to send yourself a blind cc if you want by checking the "Blind copy..." checkbox.

You can copy additional staff in the email by searching for them by name or email username (eg. dengstrom) and clicking on the search result you want.

5. Add a subject and compose your e-mail below. You can add basic formatting using the toolbar above the message composition area.

6. Optional: Click the "Select files..." button to add an attachment to the message. Note: Attachments with odd characters in their name may cause an error when you try to send the communication. So an attachment My*Attached/File.pdf might cause errors, but MyAttachedFile.pdf should be fine. Rename files before attaching if necessary.

7. Click the green “Send & Return” button to send your message and return to your seating chart. If a student or parent replies to your e-mail, it will come to your regular e-mail in-box.

Communicating With a Class

1. To communicate with all students and/or parents, click on the "Home" menu and select the “communication” menu item.

2. The "Message Details" are on the left side of your screen will jump you to the different areas of the message screen. The "Message History" button will take you to a list of your past communications.

3. In the "From" area, you can opt to send a blind copy of the message to your TTSD email account.

4. In the "To" area, use the "People" pulldown menu to select your recipients: Student(s), Parent(s) or Both Student(s) and Parent(s).  If you want your message to go out to other classes, use the checkboxes to select them.

1. In the class focus switcher, select a group.

2. Select "communication" from the Home menu.
